In the early nineties I started to reflect on the identification of radioactive waste and on the right medium for archiving. I photographed related sites and soon began to write and publish texts in order to anchor the artistic, philosophical, ethical and societal research within the framework of politics and waste management agencies.

By creating a debate that offers contemporary art an opportunity to venture into new fields, we seek an answer to this concern: How to convey something that is beyond us and yet depends on our choices? How to read above ground this archaeological stratum of the 20th and 21st centuries?
My suggestion is to work in the landscape on the surface of these sites. We are in the prehistory of this transmission. In the future, technology will take over the work. This is man for a few more generations who will transmit memory, and these places are testing grounds for art. Meanwhile, to support the development of this process, a series of works are carried out in various forms: silk screen prints, drawings, photographs, videos, installations, artist's books, texts and publications.

I call markers or "archisculptures" a new kind of vocabulary to read in the landscape, not in the demonstration (traditional exhibition) but in a continuous creative work, respectful of local communities and taking into account regional and international economic issues.

In doing so, the markers participate in the emergence of a new type of work carried out with collaborators, supported by partners and dedicated without pathos to modification, regeneration or destruction. It breaks with the statuary of the past and opens a new memorial perspective, a research laboratory whose originality would be ‘studied simplicity’.

A springboard that could provide the artist of tomorrow with a renewed role, staying in the background to work with social emergencies.
